1. Registration / league fee
The number on the email.

1b. Processing / convenience fees
Card platforms often add 2-4% or a flat fee at checkout. That is a youth sports processing fee on top of signup. Ask if check or ACH skips it. Put the real charged total here, not the flyer number.

2. Required uniform and gear
Cleats, pads, specialty socks, bag. Ask what is mandatory vs "looks cool."

3. Travel
Count likely tournaments. Gas, food, maybe a hotel. One "away" weekend can beat the signup fee.

4. Photos and keepsakes
Optional until the packet makes your kid the exception.

5. Volunteer hours or buyout
Time you do not have, converted to cash.

6. Team fees and snack duty
Pizza nights, coach gifts, end-of-season party.

7. Misc buffer
Mouthguard, spirit wear, replacement ball. Put $40-$75 here on purpose so it is not a surprise. That buffer is dad tax with a jersey on.

Add them. That sum is the decision, not line one.
